A week of suppers in Lahore
Seven evenings, seven kitchens, and what they taught us about the city's relationship with its food.

We had no plan for it, only an invitation, and then another, and then another. By the end of the week the pattern was clear: in Lahore, the table is where the city negotiates itself.
Mondays at the haveli, with the historian. Tuesdays at a friend's mother's, the karahi served in three rounds. Wednesdays in the food street, lamb chops in coriander. Each evening was a quiet argument about what the city's kitchen owes to history, and what it owes to invention.
We are still trying to write the answer. In the meantime, we set tables.
