When to go
May to October (skiing: January to February)
Naltar is the easy half-day from Gilgit that almost no foreign visitors take, a steep jeep climb into a long pine-floored valley with skiing in winter and three lakes in summer that shift from emerald to vermilion as the light moves.
We pair it with a night in a forest cabin and an early walk to Naltar Bala before the day-trippers arrive from town.
